The tech industry is expected to see a 7.1% increase in ad spending in 2024!

Every year, businesses and advertisers spend millions of dollars, maybe even billions, on ads and advertising campaigns. And in 2024, the number is only getting bigger! How do we make sure we stay on top of the competition and get value out of the money we spend on advertising? Exactly, by adopting the latest marketing and advertising trends to our advantage. 

So, what are the 2024 marketing and advertising trends?

1. Artificial Intelligence

Yes, generative AI and artificial intelligence, in general, have been making headlines for a while. In fact, according to Hubspot, around 40% of businesses have hired artificial intelligence experts to help marketing teams for their campaigns. But why exactly? Well, it seems like one of the 2024 marketing trends will focus on creating impersonal and AI-generated content. 

This is something that we have seen in previous years as well. But with the advancement of such technologies, generated content will go beyond just text-based content. In fact, we will also see many marketing companies use robotic voices and even implement AI-based videos for their advertising and marketing campaigns. Will this be successful? We don’t know yet. But we do know that this is something we’re excited about! 

2. Creator Marketing

Influencer and creator marketing has become one of the primary strategies for brands looking to engage with their target audience authentically. And it will continue to be one of the most popular 2024 marketing trends. In fact, in 2024, a significant proportion of marketing budgets are being directed toward creator marketing, with a high ROI. And it makes sense! The real influence comes from real people sharing their stories.

Creator marketing has been a trend usually for companies with a lot of money. However, in 2024, it seems like smaller businesses have found a loop hole: to use their employees as brand influencers. Whether it’s for including them in their TikTok or Instagram videos, sharing behind-the-scenes content, or even engaging with our community, our employees are becoming valuable ambassadors.

3. In-Stream Ads

Ever since the early platforms, we’ve all started moving from traditional cable television to streaming platforms. And the reason was obvious: we could watch everything we wanted, at any time, without being interrupted by commercial breaks. The business model of a streaming platform consists in subscribers are required to pay a monthly fee for an ad-free experience.

In fact, Hulu implemented a strategy where subscribers would have to watch in-stream ads, even though they paid for a subscription. And recent trends are showing that other streaming services are following suit – including Netflix who plans to introduce ads in their cheaper subscription plans. 

That’s good news for advertisers! In-stream advertising captures 4 times more the attention of our target audience than on social media. So, it’s time to put our money to good use with these advertising and marketing trends!

4. Focus on Educating and Explaining

Tech advertising is all about educating and explaining in 2024. And it makes sense! With so many AI tools and products and with the advancements in technology, advertising and marketing tactics will play an important role in educating our end users about what these tools can do for them, how they can use them, and the benefits that they will bring. 

For example, OpenAI has recently released the latest update for ChatGPT – ChatGPT 4.o. But to make sure that we understand exactly how we can use it and its capabilites, they have released various advertising resources, such as multiple demos and even a page where we can access them. By directly illustrating these advantages, these tech advertising trends can bridge the gap between these technological advancements and end-user adoption.

5. A Year With Big Events

Yes, 2024 will bring incredible technological developments. But there will be a big year when it comes to major events. We have the Olympics, Euro 2024, and 2024 Copa America tournaments, and even the United States Presidential election. All of these events are about to offer a lot of opportunities for marketing tactics all businesses – across multiple media platforms and for a wide range of audiences. 

For this reason, this might be one of the most profitable advertising and marketing trends in 2024. So, make sure you invest your money wisely in the best advertising campaigns!
