The question that we all have in mind when it comes to starting out a new business or your marketing journey. How do we succeed in an industry that becomes oversaturated in all industries and domains? How do we put our brand above others, and how can we become the most notorious brand in our industry?

Well, it might not be a secret recipe big brands hold onto, but we might have some steps we make sure to follow when starting up or developing our brand. Some of the biggest brands that have been in the industry and have been successful have not just come from the marketing team.

Big brands such as Netflix, HBO, Disney, WeTransfer, Canva, and so on, have become what they are today with help from more than one department. They are the result of hard work, brainstorming, and the belief in creating a company that believes in offering its users a product that makes a difference.

So, be mindful of those steps when thinking of creating a brand that people love and trust, and your next product might just be the next unicorn.

1. Authenticity and Transparency

In a company, a brand is shaped by everyone who touches it. Even though marketing teams might leave a big impact on brands, they are not the only ones who determine and shape the brand in some way.

A brand that is authentic inspires trust, and to do so, you will need to create a strong organic growth led by people you trust, pricing that is advantageous, or unique features or partnership opportunities. All of this can also attract a talented team and help develop and grow the one that you already have.

A simple approach with honesty is another mandatory feature that any strong brand is looking for. Being straightforward with your users encourages them to believe in your product as well as create a community surrounding it.

2. Consistent Brand Messaging

Consistent brand messaging can also influence the process of developing a brand that is loved and trusted by everyone, that leads to brand recognition.

Letting your audience know what you are expecting from your brand, your goals, and your features or services helps your potential customers understand how the product can be helpful in their lives. Call to actions also help, encouraging any possible user to put trust and be aware of the brand you are creating. Think about Netflix and how everyone knows its purpose – to entertain its audience. Or, about Coca-Cola and their brand message of sharing happiness while enjoying the soda.

Using a consistent brand color can also help in the process of making the user trust and love your brand. It is how you make your brand stand out and help remain on the same page with your message.

3. Engage with Your Audience

Talking and engaging with your audience can only help your engagement and conversion rates grow. Think about it – interacting with your audience makes your potential clients and users feel like they are important. It makes them feel special and appreciate your brand more, possibly leading to them using or buying your product or service that you have to offer.

Engaging with your customers and audience can also make you stand out and be remembered more easily, especially if you offer your potential clients a great one.

4. Deliver Quality and Value

A valuable product or service is always seen better compared to those that don’t do what they promise to do. It is a safe way in which you can make your brand be remembered, and in a good way. A good service can attract recommendations and help strengthen your image as well.

Think about it, it seems only logical to encourage word-of-mouth marketing, as satisfied customers become brand advocates, recommending your products or services to others. Even more so, it creates competitive differentiation. When it comes to crowded markets, a brand that delivers products and services that are superior can only stand out.

5. Showcase Testimonials and Reviews

You can also showcase your product testimonials and reviews so potential clients can form an opinion when it comes to your product and services. It helps offer a more sincere point of view as well as make your brand feel more trustworthy.

Everyone loves a great review, and when it comes to a product or service you have never encountered or seen before, it helps to be a positive one. A great testimonial can help possible users even try your product or service, and who knows, maybe they will fall in love with your product.

6. Invest in Brand Storytelling

A good story has the power of winning hearts, so try and do that with your brand. Be more than just another product on the market, be the one that stands out and has something to tell. A great story remains in your audience's memory and can even be the turning point on whether or not new customers want and choose your product or service.

Investing in storytelling can also lead to boosting engagement rates, as people are more likely to remember stories rather than marketing messages. Even more so, an emotional connection is formed with the help of storytelling.

7. Be Human

Whatever happens, don’t forget to remain human. Regardless of your brand’s journey, represent your brand proudly and be mindful of what your clients want. Think like a human, not like a robot.
